Let's Talk Human Rights

The Human Rights Center (HRC) invites applications from faculty of all ranks and from all units and departments across campus to join an interdisciplinary cohort at the intersection of business, human rights, and sustainability. 

This summer, Makoro Kebe’s internship with WomHub was a catalyst for profound growth and insight, blending her passions for cybersecurity and education. Her experience highlighted the power of education and innovation in empowering women and underscoring broader social issues, emphasizing the crucial intersection of technology and social justice. 

In November 2023, we gathered for the 2023 Social Practice of Human Rights, co-convening with the International Conference on the Right to Development, focused on the theme – “Decolonization and Development for Africa and People of African Descent.” This SPHR23 blog series captures the discussions and shares the learning that occurred during the conference around the themes of (1) the right to development; (2) building social movements; (3) just energy transitions; and (4) identity and belonging — as applied to Africa and the people of African descent.

The diverse sights and sounds of Kenya came alive in our AVoice4Peace trip this past June. In addition to going on a safari and touring Nairobi, during our trip we sang with three different Kenyan choirs in a concert to raise money for a school and orphanage and spread a message of peace and unity.
