The nonprofit and community leadership graduate certificate program prepares you to be an agent of social change for the common good and a transformational community leader by providing you essential administrative and leadership skills.

The certificate is designed for students considering careers in the nonprofit community sector/international NGOs, those interested in developing their leadership capacity and students generally interested in community service and public life. The program is dedicated to the development of mission-driven leaders, organizations and communities. It emphasizes fundamental knowledge about nonprofit and community-based organizations, the current trends, challenges and best practices in nonprofit leadership.

Application and Admission Requirements

This certificate program is open to to non-degree/certificate only students in Dayton and Cincinnati regions, as well as current undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees at the University of Dayton.

Certificate-Only Students

To apply, create an account in the application portal system. When you select the certificate for which you are applying, any additional requirements and instructions will be provided.

  • Open to non-degree/certificate only students in Dayton and Cincinnati regions.
  • No GRE required for enrollment or application.
  • Completed bachelor's degree with minimum overall 2.75 GPA.
  • The cost of tuition is competitive with regional state universities.

Current Undergraduate Students

Only graduate courses will count towards earning a graduate certificate. An undergraduate student cannot be awarded a graduate certificate prior to or simultaneously with their undergraduate degree. View details in the academic catalog.

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at time of application.
