Discover Your Calling: Where Faith Meets Your Future

Think of your career not just as a job, but as a calling — something you're meant to do, something that truly aligns with who you are and what you believe. When you see your work as a vocation, it's easier to connect your personal values with your professional life.

The Center for the Integration of Faith and Work helps you do just that. We offer programs and activities that explore how your religious and spiritual beliefs, such as Marianist values, can connect with the world of work. We believe business can be a powerful force for good, shaping a better world.

Center Overview

About the Center

The Center for the Integration of Faith and Work is a resource for not only the UD School of Business Administration community, but across campus and beyond. It prepares students, faculty and staff to lead with integrity by viewing business as a meaningful calling.

Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and Marianist values, the center fosters a dialogue around faith, ethics and vocation — infusing spiritual purpose into business education and practice.

Real-World Experience for Students

Business students have a variety of opportunities to discover and deepen their calling and bridge their faith and academics through a variety of programs:

  • Business as a Calling: Annual event where a prominent business leader shares real-world insights on ethical leadership with undergraduate business students.
  • Walk the Talk Luncheons: Integrated into MGT 490 (Strategic Management), the Walk the Talk Luncheon connects students with business professionals to tackle real ethics cases, build presentation skills and deepen ethical insight through reflection.
  • MBA 758 (Principled Organization: Integrating Faith, Ethics & Work): This is a required graduate course that helps students integrate faith, ethics and purpose into leadership. Grounded in UD’s Marianist tradition, it prepares future leaders to view work as a calling and build values-driven, mission-focused organizations.

Why UD's Marianist Approach Creates Exceptional Leaders

We believe in cultivating leaders who excel both their careers and in their commitment to building a better world. Drawing inspiration from Marianist values that speak universally, our approach empowers students to become highly effective and ethically driven professionals, who can lead others to be the same. Here's how:

  • Igniting Purpose: We help you discover your calling, then develop a deep sense of purpose that fuels engagement and drives success in any endeavor.
  • Instilling Autonomy: You'll develop the critical thinking and ethical framework to make informed decisions that contribute to the common good, both personally and professionally. You’ll also learn how to develop this in others as well.
  • Cultivating Mastery: We instill a pride in craftsmanship and a dedication to excellence, encouraging you to take ownership of your work and its positive impact on the world. We stress lifelong learning, so that as the world changes, you’ll be better prepared to adapt.
