The University of Dayton Magazine staff, though small, is quite mighty when it comes to creating engaging content for our readers. We are constantly striving to make this publication a better connection for our alumni to their UD community. Each year, our staff conducts a survey to help us evaluate how our readers view the magazine and what they’d like to see in its pages. Last fall, we surveyed a random sampling of nearly 2,000 readers and received nearly 400 responses.

The magazine continues to be well-read and serves as a primary source of University news and information for 83% of readers; coming in second is UD’s e-newsletter.

Readers also told us the magazine strengthens the reader’s personal connection to UD and enhances UD’s reputation. The No. 1 story in print last year was “Humor that Transcends Time” about Erma Fiste Bombeck ’49. The most-read online story was “Jesus’ Earthly Dad” about St. Joseph by Gloria Falcão Dodd, research professor in religious studies, written for Father’s Day.

Readers want to see more bonus photo slideshows, related story links and video from us. Twitter followers are down for @daymag — like many other accounts — and we are looking into other means to share our content through social media.

Our staff invites readers to stay connected to UD through our magazine website at udayton.edu/magazine. We also welcome your story ideas, class notes and letters anytime at magazine@udayton.edu.
