This new batch of majors, minors and certificates makes us wonder what paths future Flyers have yet to invent.

1- Sustainability

(undergraduate major)

Flyers aren’t afraid to tackle some of the biggest issues affecting business, science and politics. Sustainability majors can craft their way toward environmentally conscious practices through a cultural and social track or an analytical and scientific approach. With research concentrations in energy, sustainable watersheds, food systems and urban sustainability, these grads are planning for long futures in making the future longer.

2- Marianist social transformation

(undergraduate minor)

The Marianist charism guides the University, and with just five courses, Flyers with this minor learn what is at the core of that mission. With classes weaving disciplines, religions, ethnicities and philosophies, Marianist social transformation students embody the spirit of educating the whole person.

3- Dyslexia

(graduate certificate)

When it comes to educating future educators, they need to be prepared to adapt for all students who walk through their classroom doors. Teacher education students are learning how to accommodate lessons for those with exceptionalities, including dyslexia and autism, through certificate programs.

4- AI and data sciences

(undergraduate minor)

Some people want to keep artificial intelligence out of academia. Computer science students picking up this minor are studying how to work with it. Emerging AI technologies and data science have called for more graduates who know machine learning techniques to catch up with the future of artificial intelligence.

5- Human rights in engineering

(undergraduate minor)

The UD engineering program has set out to graduate a wave of globally responsible engineers with its newest minor. The fusion of engineering and human rights pulls on threads of equity-centered design, sustainability, social responsibility and multicultural engagement to engineer better access to human rights globally.

6- Business analytics

(undergraduate major)

The new business analytics major may be one your father might wish he had; I know my father does. Undergraduate business students are honing skills to optimize the workplace and help make managerial decisions based on statistical models and analytical insights. Simply put, these Flyers are in the business of doing business.
