Funder thunder

In December, Flyer Funder — the University’s crowdfunding initiative — finished its latest record-breaking round of fundraising since its inception in 2016.

Each fall and spring, UD students, faculty and staff apply to turn innovative ideas into reality through an online crowdfunding campaign. Student clubs, organizations and groups come together with ideas to create more experiential learning opportunities and help faculty be innovative in the classroom.

To date, Flyer Funder has helped 87 projects, totaling $359,480 raised from 3,896 donors. During this most recent cycle, Flyer Funder set a record with 14 projects raising $57,418 from more than 650 donors.

Groups asking for funding last semester included:

Last fall, Jeremy Page ’23 was president of Remedy A Cappella, one of UD’s student a cappella clubs. He said it was overwhelming to see support from the greater UD community as they surpassed their goal of $1,600 for professional music arrangements and choreography for competitions.

“This will allow us to look and sound our best as we take the stage this spring for our competition season,” Page said. “Our membership is extraordinarily grateful for the generosity that has been shown.”

The spring campaign cycle began in March and closes on One Day, One Dayton, April 9.
