No matter the season, the westwardly view from the top floor of Marycrest Residence Complex gives a panorama of all activity happening on campus, from the first snowball thrown in winter to the first Frisbee thrown in spring and all the class changes in between.

Fishbowl through the glass.2. The ‘Fishbowl’

Found in the back of Kennedy Union, this space for multimedia creation puts you in the center of student activity without the crowds. “Sometimes I’d even go into one of the studios to do homework in the peace and quiet,” writes an alumna.

Booth spaces with tables3. Sixth floor of Fitz Hall

This building houses classes for musicians, educators, artists and more. If you climb to the top floor and weave through the hallways, you’ll be rewarded with a superb study refuge, booths and other seating spaces ideal for cramming from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Bleachers at Baujan Field4. Bleachers at Baujan Field

On the south side, students use the metal risers for standing more than sitting to watch Dayton Flyers soccer. On the north side, the grassy terraces are perfect for fans with kids. Regular-season games are free for all, so there’s no excuse not to experience it for yourself.

Picnic table appears behind a tree5. Picnic area next to Marycrest

It’s one of those places you have to know about to visit — just south of Marycrest, tucked behind the fountain at Serenity Pines, with picnic tables among the pine trees. It’s the perfect place to hang a hammock and just a short walk from the Mary Seat of Wisdom statue, beautiful at any season.

Elevator doors6. Old elevator in the Science Center

The slowest … elevator … ever. But after a 15-minute walk from your abode on the way to a third-floor geology lab, taking the lift from the back of Wohlleben Hall gives a boost to your day.

Three students sit and watch the sunset on Stuart Hill.7. Sunsets from Stuart Hill

Well worth the walk.

Student plays the piano8. Piano practice rooms

They are small and cozy and produce
a warm wave of music in Fitz Hall. Unless they are reserved, students can walk right in. “Playing piano for fun after a long day is such a great way to unwind,” said one student.

Outside doors tom "the shortcut"9. The shortcut

When the weather is awful — or you’re late for class — the best shortcut is one that is warm and dry. Cut through the passageway that connects Frericks Athletic and Convention Center to the Cronin Athletic Center for the quickest route from Brown Street to St. Joseph Hall. Keep your eye open for Sparky, the squirrel with a tail that’s seen better days (and, from the looks of it, some electricity).
