Expedition south

A flock of birds flew into the trees on the north end of St. Mary’s Hall. They made a pretty good racket as they feasted on the small red berries on the trees near the Rike Center. They also explored the roof ledges of St. Mary’s Hall. Experts say birds migrate to the same general location year after year, moving from their breeding ranges in North America to Central and South America where they winter over. They also use the same places for pit stops, seeking out safe places to rest and find food along the way. A migrating flock can number into the thousands. Types of birds that migrate in large flocks are: blackbirds, robins, starlings and pigeons. It looks like these particular feathered friends liked using campus as one of their many stops.
