Everyone onto the porch

Everyone onto the porch

The front porch of the University of Dayton has enough room for everyone — current student, alumnus, friend or parent — who wants to join with others to sustain the Flyer community.

Inspired by neighborhood porches and the sense of community they help create, the Front Porch Society recognizes donors who make annual gifts to the University for three or more consecutive fiscal years, which run July 1 through June 30. This year, the Front Porch Society welcomed more than 1,800 new members; more than 15,000 individuals have been members during the last five years.

The Front Porch Society recognizes UD’s most dedicated and loyal supporters who make gifts of any amount, said Jen Foster, executive director of annual giving and leadership annual giving. This year, 80% of members gave less than $1,000, she said, proving that gifts of any size are important and collectively add up to support students and community.

“Front Porch Society members who give to UD annually provide a vote of confidence in the value of a UD education, and their loyalty promises to support future generations of students,” she said.

It’s fitting that the giving society represented by a community of loyal donors is symbolized by one of the most welcoming gathering places on campus, said Foster: “And there’s always room on this porch for more.”
