It’s the end of an era. The last of the "eyebrows" — the concrete curves on the exterior of Kettering Labs — have been taken down. The eyebrows were the brainchild of Pretzinger Architects, who added the curves as visual interest to the drawings of a last-minute grant application to fund a new engineering building. Most of the rest of the eyebrows were removed with the previous exterior renovation. This construction work is part of the renovation of the Music Theatre Building. When completed, the walkway space between Kettering Labs and the Music Theatre Building, which the eyebrows once helped shade and overlook, will be joined. It will become a brand new interior space. So, even though we lose the eyebrows, we gain new useable room.
