No matter what stage you are in your life, it is important to take care of yourself- mind, body, and spirit.

Physical Well-Being

Eating a well-balanced diet and staying physically active is important for long-term health. Not only will you feel better, but it also helps decrease the likelihood of developing heart disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure, among other ailments. For information about specific health concerns, please consult your physician.

For Students

Campus Recreation
The department of Campus Recreation provides a variety of recreational programs, services and facilities for the UD community to exercise your body, mind and spirit. Whether you enjoy group fitness, rock climbing, floor hockey, basketball, strength training or swimming, Campus Recreation has something for everyone.

Community Wellness Services
The Office of Community Wellness Services supports and encourages students to lead a positive, wellness-focused lifestyle. They are committed to developing a campus and community approach to the prevention of high-risk behaviors that could interfere with the quest for a well-balanced lifestyle.

Health Center
If students are not feeling well, need a physical or require a vaccination, the Health Center is available. Located in Gosiger Hall, the Health Center is staffed by a team of family physicians and registered nurses.

Faculty & Staff Wellness Program
The Faculty/Staff Wellness Program creates a a culture of health by providing evidence based resources, tools, and education that supports individuals in their journey to their own optimal level of wellness. The program honors the integration, balance, and harmony of mind, body, spirit and emotions to improve health and well being, morale, job satisfaction and quality of life.

Lifeworks Employee Assistance Program
Lifeworks is a free, confidential service to help manage personal issues at work or at home. It also includes health and wellness coaching that can be done over the phone. There are also online self-paced workshops, interactive tools and trackers and a health library available.

RecPlex Membership
The Fitness and Recreation Complex (RecPlex), is a comprehensive and innovative recreation facility designed to provide high level recreation opportunities with state of the art equipment, high level programming, and features to meet the needs of our patrons. Faculty and Staff are eligible for discounted membership and members may also purchase memberships for their children.

Psychological Well-Being

Psychological health includes our emotional, mental, and social well-being and affects how we think, feel, and act. Having a strong, positive psychological well-being is important because it helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. The Women's Center has many resources on psychological well-being, including information about dealing with stress, eating disorders, and mood disorders.

For Students

Campus Ministry
Spiritual Direction is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Spiritual directors are not agents of change, and with no behavioral changes required by the directed.  God is the agent of change. Paying attention to God with the help of a spiritual director or companion in a private one-on-one meeting or a regular series of meetings can make an important difference in all areas of your life. 

Counseling Center
While anxiety, depression, and a host of other personal struggles can often prevent students from obtaining their full potential, the University of Dayton Counseling Center seeks to provide opportunities for students to work towards a more balanced life style.To help students overcome obstacles and achieve a healthy well-being, the Counseling Center provides individual and group counseling for personal and career related concerns.

For Faculty & Staff

Campus Ministry
Pastoral Counseling-counseling within the context of a faith community--can include discussion of personal and interpersonal issues, spiritual concerns or even crisis situations. Fr. Tom Schroer, SM, has over 30 years of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist as well as more than 40 years as a Marianist priest. This service is available to any faculty and staff member. Lifeworks Employee Assistance Program
Millions of people suffer from feelings of depression, stress, or anxiety. These feelings can impact work, relationships, and well-being. If you or someone you care about is feeling worried or stressed, LifeWorks is a free, confidential service available to employees. Contact a consultant for resources, guidance, and support.

Spiritual Well-Being

The Women's Center contributes to UD's mission to be a strong, diverse, and inclusive community by creating a welcoming and safe space for persons of different racial, social, gender, religious, and cultural backgrounds to explore and incorporate faith-based living into their everyday lives.
