Logo Request

The consistent and proper use of the University of Dayton logo protects and enhances the University's reputation – and allows the individual entities that make up our University to take advantage of our high-quality reputation.

To request a logo or wordmark file from the University of Dayton, simply submit the logo request form. These requests are reviewed by the University trademark team, and you will be notified of the status of your request within five business days. Please note that any marketing materials intended for an external audience must also follow the University Marketing and Communications Policy.

If your logo request is granted, you must use the logo in the format provided by the University trademark team – without any modification – and follow the logo usage guidelines. Approvals are for one-time use only.

Logo Licensing FAQs

Individuals, including faculty, staff and students, or any business/organization wishing to use the University's trademarks or verbiage on any product must have a license before offering the product/goods for sale. This also includes sale to University departments, campus organizations and student recognized organizations. Premiums, promotions and advertising are included as well.


Yes, in order for the University to maintain design integrity and protect its value, permission must be obtained from via the logo request form and a licensed vendor must be used.


University trademarks are protected by law, and therefore the University is responsible to ensure that only those authorized individuals and entities are able to use our marks. Vendors and licensees go through annual audits to ensure that they comply with worker's rights and fair labor regulations. This is why the University does not permit the sale of UD-branded products or services to any party, even UD departments, student organizations or alumni groups, unless such products or services are approved under the University's licensing program.


Yes. If a product uses the University's colors, facts or words that imply an association with the University, that product must be approved and the vendor selling the product must be licensed by the University.


If you have completed the licensing process through Learfield Licensing Partners, you will receive information on submitting artwork through their interactive website. This site manages the entire artwork approval process online.


The logo usage guidelines provide a list of unacceptable uses. The University has the sole right to decline any item.

University logos cannot be used to endorse or promote a private group or business unless authorized by a formal written contract or sponsorship agreement. Private companies are allowed to use University logos only after entering into a promotion specific agreement with the University, Athletic Department or the Learfield Licensing Partners on our behalf.


Legal Details

All of the University of Dayton’s registered marks, as well as other names, seals and symbols that are representative of the University or its entities, whether or not registered, are the property of the University of Dayton. The University reserves the right to modify or suspend these guidelines and withdraw any permission granted under any agreement to use any University of Dayton logo. No one other than the University of Dayton may claim copyright or trademark rights or seek to register any design that uses University of Dayton trademarks. The University reserves the right to take action against any misuse or unfair, misleading, diluting or infringing use of University of Dayton trademarks or logos.
