    University of Dayton, Fiscal Year 2019

    The University of Dayton received $170.5 million in sponsored research revenue in fiscal year 2019.

    92.6 percent of research was performed for federal agencies – DOD, DOE, EPA, NASA, etc.
    7.4 percent was performed for state & local governments, business and industry, other universities and foundations. 

    94.3 percent of research was performed at the Research Institute.
    5.7 percent was performed in academic departments.

    67 faculty members and 238 graduate and undergrad students were engaged in sponsored research.

    *The University of Dayton Research Institute employs 673 full-time and part-time, benefits-eligible professional researchers, technicians and administrative staff; 301 are located in offices/labs at WPAFB (217) and other locations outside of the Dayton area (11-15-19).

    • UD moved to number 1 among Catholic colleges/universities in the nation for sponsored research and development in physical S/TEM.
