How can I apply to participate in the E-Learning Fellows Program?

If you're interested in participating in the program, please talk with your department chair first. Candidates will also be asked to complete an application since there are only 12 seats in the program. When the program runs again, the application form will be in several locations on the main ELF informational page

How much of a time commitment is the program?

The program is run between January and July of the calendar year.  The program consists of 7 formal group meetings.  If you're selected to participate in the program, you can expect to spend approximately 2-4 hours per week (outside of meeting time) completing assignments that will facilitate the development of an online course.  Overall, participants dedicate at least 100 hours to the E-Learning Fellows Program (between January and August).

How does the program work?

If you're selected to participate in the E-Learning Fellows Program, you'll attend 7 formal group meetings between January and May.  These sessions will walk you through building an online course, step-by-step.  Between the group meetings, you'll be building various components of an online course.  There will be 4 different check-in points along the way to ensure that you're on the right path.  After the formal programming ends in May, you'll have until July 31st to complete the development of your online or hybrid course.  The course will be evaluated for quality (against a rubric) by Center for Online Learning staff members.  The course must be taught within 2 years of completing the E-Learning Fellows Program.

Do I need to have prior experience teaching online?

No, prior online teaching experience is not required.  Staff in the Center for Online Learning will help train you on UD's Learning Management System (Isidore) and will provide guidance for building and facilitating an online course.

Do I need to teach the online course I build during the E-Learning Fellows Program?

Yes, you need to teach the online course that you build.  The course should be taught within 2 years of completion of the E-Learning Fellows Program.
