Student News Digest

7/15/2020

We understand that you are receiving a lot of communication from the University, however we want to make sure you are informed of decisions as we make them. More messages will be sent throughout the month of July leading up to move in. Please be sure to carefully review the information you receive in order to prepare for fall semester.

Medical panel Q&A

Members of UD's medical advisory panel and faculty plus Dr. Mary Buchwalder, medical director of the UD Student Health Center, and Natalie Coppolino, UD Student Government Association president, discussed frequently asked questions about COVID-19, including testing, symptoms, what to do if you're sick or have come into contact with someone with COVID-19, and best ways to protect yourself against the virus in this video

Fall instruction information

Students and parents received an email Tuesday morning about the modes of instruction being offered for students this fall. The instructional modes in which courses will be offered — blended, fully remote, fully face-to-face — are influenced by several factors, with primary considerations toward safeguarding the health of students, faculty, and staff, and maintaining the highest quality of education and engagement for our students.

Changes to the textbook rental program

For the 2020-21 academic year, students using the textbook scholarship will be encouraged to purchase access to the digital text and materials for their courses wherever possible. In most cases, the digital pricing is comparable to the textbook rental fee. Students who prefer to work from a hard copy of materials are able to purchase a low-cost, looseleaf version of the text to accompany the digital content. Print versions, both used and new, will be available. During this pause in the rental program, the textbook scholarship may be used for both digital and print options. To read more, visit go.udayton.edu/coronavirus and click the tab in the Information for Students section about textbooks.

Roesch reopening

The Roesch Library building will reopen to current faculty, staff and students Monday, Aug. 10. A UD ID is required to enter the building. Hours in August will vary; check hours online. OhioLINK plans to resume print lending among participating libraries by mid-August. Email library@udayton.edu if you have any questions.

Praying from the heart

Join an online version of Prayers of the HEART from 12:15-12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16. Click here for the Zoom link. Participants will virtually gather as they do around the Peace Pole on the third Thursday of the month for a 15-minute prayer between classes focused on current issues in the world, the nation and in our community.
