Post Orientation Homework

Getting Ready for your First Semester

In order to adequately prepare for your first semester at UD, we have outlined some homework for you to complete after Orientation and before your first day of classes. We go through this list in your in-person Orientation session, and you will have access to it on the Porches Orientation Dashboard!

  • This task list is meant as a guide, please use the list in your Porches Orientation Dashboard for complete details.
  • This list features separate items from your Porches to-do list, which also needs to be completed, but is geared towards the time leading up to your Orientation.

This year, UD launched a platform designed to help students successfully navigate their college experience. YOU@Dayton fosters student success in three domains: SUCCEED (academics/career); THRIVE (physical/mental health); and MATTER (purpose/community/social and spiritual connections).

The platform is customized for the University of Dayton, connecting students to campus resources with relevant curated content by licensed psychologists that is updated weekly. Privacy is foremost as email credentials are encrypted when accessing YOU@Dayton. There is no way of tracking individual use or responses, creating an environment in which students can feel safe to be honest and explore sensitive topics.

Visit to set up your account and explore this exciting resource that will support students in discovering strategies to succeed, thrive, and matter.
