Spring Orientation

Spring Orientation

Student Transitions and Family Programs plans and facilitates the Spring orientation experience for all UD students beginning their college journey in the spring semester. The Spring program is a virtual program designed to transition domestic first-year and transfer students and their family members.

All new incoming first-year students are required to attend the virtual synchronous experience, while all new incoming transfer students have the opportunity to choose between attending the virtual synchronous experience or completing the online program at their own pace.

All incoming residential students are encouraged to select a move-in date that falls after their scheduled virtual orientation.

Spring Orientation 2021

First Years: Virtual New student ORientation (VNSO)

What to Expect
  • Students will receive a formal welcome from the university administration and helpful instruction in navigating university language, requirements, programs, and expectations.
  • Students will participate in small group sessions with their Orientation Leader and navigate a virtual resource fair to identify campus support and resources.
  • The session will last the entirety of the day; students are expected to participate in the full orientation schedule.
  • Parents and family members will be invited to attend a first-year parent/family lounge.

TRANSFERS: Virtual Transfer Orientation (VTSO) OR Online orientation (at your own pace)

What to Expect
  • Both orientation programs allow students the opportunity to learn about a variety of different resources our campus has to offer for students' academic and non-academic lives.
  • The Virtual Transfer Orientation (VTSO) session is meant to provide a greater connection to our UD community: students, faculty, and staff. Those that sign up for the session are expected to participate in the full schedule.
  • The online transfer orientation experience provides an alternate way for transfer students to complete the orientation requirement if you're not able to attend the Virtual Transfer Orientation (VTSO) program due to work commitments. The modules can be taken at your leisure as long as they are completed by the first day of classes, January 19th, 2021.
  • If you choose the online orientation program, you will gain access to the modules after the Virtual Transfer Orientation session.
  • Parents and family members will be invited to attend a first-year parent/family lounge.
