January Orientation

January Orientation

Student Transitions and Family Programs plans and facilitates the January orientation experience for all UD students beginning their college journey in the spring semester. The January program is a one-day blended program designed to transition domestic first-year and transfer students and their family members. All new incoming first-year students are required to attend the in-person experience, while all new incoming transfer students have the opportunity to choose between attending the in-person experience or completing the online program.

Modules

G.P.S (Guiding Pre-Arrival Students) and Community Education Modules (AlcoholEDU, SAPU and UDiversity)

All incoming students are required to complete three online courses, which make up the Community Education Modules. These modules assist students in developing a shared understanding of the values that we embrace as a Catholic Marianist University. Failure to complete all courses in their entirety will result in a hold being placed on your student account.

AlcoholEdu is a two-part course, which educates students on the impacts of alcohol and provides information needed to make healthy decisions.
Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (SAPU) is a two-part course, which educates students about healthy relationships, the importance of consent, and the role of bystander intervention.
Created for students by students, UDiversity is a one-part course, which prepares students to learn, lead, and serve in a diverse global society.

Modules will open on December 1, 2019.

Deadlines

Part 1 Alcohol EDU/SAPU are required to be completed by January 13, 2020.

Part 2 Alcohol EDU/SAPU and UDiversity are required to be completed by February 27, 2020.

Health Immunizations

All incoming students born after 1956 (domestic and international), are required to submit proof (dates) of two MMR vaccines (measles, mumps and rubella), and do a tuberculosis (TB) screening. Students may go to Health Center to download and print the required form for completion by a health care provider.

Online Transfer Program (virtual experience)

The online transfer orientation experience provides an alternate way for transfer students to complete the orientation requirement if you're not able to attend the January Orientation program in person due to work commitments. The modules can be taken at your leisure as long as they are completed by January 13, 2020.

Registration

If you are sure you are unable to attend the recommended in-person experience and need to choose the virtual experience, you will follow the same registration process by logging into Porches at go.udayton.edu/admission or at the 1850 2020 January Orientation site.  You will then choose the online option and follow the prompts from there. If you have any questions or concerns about the registration process contact Student Transitions and Family Programs at (937) 229-2229.

Completion Deadline: January 13, 2020
