2019 Family Weekend Friday Schedule

RecPlex Open Hours (No registration required)
6 AM - 10 PM  RecPlex
UD Families have the opportunity to get active free of charge during Family Weekend through use of the RecPlex facility for open recreation! Minors must be accompanied by an adult, waivers must be signed at check-in, must have drivers license present for access.

RecBike Rentals (No registration required)
6 AM - 10 PM  RecPlex, Equipment Resource Center
Take a ride around the neighborhood or hit the trails with our RecBikes! Must be a member to rent the bikes, however a member can rent more than one at a time. All participants must sign a waiver at the time of check-out. Free to rent and must be back before sundown. All bikes come with a helmet and bike lock.

Family Weekend Information Center & Merchandise Pick-Up Open (No registration required)
8:30 AM - 8:30 PM  Gosiger Hall, Room 131
Check-in for Family Weekend is not required. Family Weekend merchandise can only be picked up during these hours. New Student Programs Staff will be available to answer questions.  Limited amounts of merchandise for sale can be purchased with cash or checks (made payable to "University of Dayton").

Flu Prevention Clinic (Pre-registration recommended, fee billed to student account)
8:30 AM - 6 PM  Health Center, Gosiger Hall, Ground Floor
The vaccine is $25 and will be billed to the student's account. Pre-registration not required but all students must have their student ID to receive a shot. Sponsored by Community Wellness and Student Health Services.

Dayton Art Institute - Family Pass (Free event, pre-registration tickets given seating priority, remaining seats filled on a first-come,first-served basis.)
11 AM - 5 PM Dayton Art Institute
Looking for a great off-campus family activity? Visit the Dayton Art Institute, one of the region's premier fine arts museums. Passes are free this weekend; one pass is good for 4 people

Academic Open Houses (Pre-registration required)
Join current students, administrators, faculty and Deans at Open Houses hosted by each academic unit and the University Libraries. We encourage you to visit any event that is of interest to you or your student.

Academic Open House - Law School (Pre-registration required)
2 - 4 PM  Keller Hall, Atrium
Discover the many possibilities of a career in the law. Enjoy refreshments while touring Keller Hall, the beautiful home of the School of Law and the Human Rights Center. Talk to someone from the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid about the necessary steps for law school and catch a few videos showcasing our law school's welcoming atmosphere.

Academic Open House - Arts & Sciences (Pre-registration required)
3 – 5 PM O'Reilly Hall
The College of Arts and Sciences welcomes parents and families to visit O'Reilly Hall which houses our administrative offices.  Meet with College faculty and staff to learn about the new Career Camp (for current sophomores) and hands-on learning opportunities including the Dean's Summer Fellowship Program.  Enjoy our latest art exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing.  Refreshments will be provided.

The School of Business Administration welcomes parents and families to visit our classrooms, tour our Centers, and speak to representatives about our special programs. Refreshments will be provided.

Academic Open House - School of Education & Health Sciences (Pre-registration required)
3 - 5 PM Fitz Hall, 6th Floor and labs
The School of of Education and Health Sciences welcomes parents and families to visit our classrooms, tour the 6th floor of Fitz Hall, and speak to representatives about our special programs.  Refreshments will be provided.

Academic Open House - School of Engineering (Pre-registration required)
3 - 5 PM Kettering Labs, Lobby
"Doughnut" miss the opportunity to visit the School of Engineering! Try out the Flight Simulator, tour the labs, learn about our student organizations and study abroad programs! Representatives from the Office of Student Success, Co-op, and ETHOS will also be available. (Plus, have a Dayton-famous "Bill's" Doughnut to kick off a sweet weekend at UD!)

Family Weekend Reception sponsored by the Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center  and Housing and Residence Life (Pre-registration is required)

The Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center (MED) and Housing and Residence Life (HRL) cordially invite you to join us for a Family Weekend Reception.  We look forward to reconnecting or meeting you for the first time! Everyone is welcome! 

Annual Cornhole Tournament (Team of 2) (Pre-registration and prepayment required)
6 PM  RecPlex, MAC Gym
Join UDCR for a single elimination cornhole tournament at the RecPlex!  Teams of two (2) $12 entry fee.  Pre-register before September 11 to guarantee a t-shirt. Teams may also register on-site, but late registration does not include a t-shirt. 

Sushi 101 with FUSIAN (Pre-registration and prepayment required)
6 - 7:30 PM  Adele Center, McGinnis Multipurpose Room 
FUSIAN team members will lead a hands-on workshop where participants have the opportunity to customize, assemble, and roll their own 10-piece maki sushi roll.

Welcome to Family Weekend!  Drop in at your convenience to grab a treat and build community with other Flyer families.  Learn about upcoming student-centered programs and initiatives like the Senior Send-off and more.

Women's Club Soccer (Free event, pre-registration tickets given seating priority, remaining seats filled on a first-come,first-served basis.)

Come watch the Women's Club Soccer team in a match against Ohio State.

UDLateNight Presents Evening Magic with Michael Kent (Pre-registration is required)

Join #UDLateNight during Family Weekend as we host Magician Michael Kent for a night of magic. 

UD Jazz Ensemble (Free event, pre-registration tickets given seating priority, remaining seats filled on a first-come,first-served basis.)

9 - 11 PM Kennedy Union, Torch Lounge
The Dayton Jazz Ensemble is the premier jazz band at the University. The ensemble comprises of several majors from across the campus. The group will be playing a wide range of music including Latin, swing, be-bop, fusion, rock and funk. Light refreshments will be available.
