Student Transitions and Family Programs
2024 Welcome Weekend
Dates: Friday August 16 - Sunday August 18, 2024
All incoming first-year students are expected to attend Welcome Weekend programming, which includes the following:
- New Student Convocation
- Small group meetings led by a Welcome Team Leader (upper-division student)
- Meeting the Academic Deans
- Table Topics, a series of scenarios that highlight the student experience
- Resource Fair
- Late night programming (live music, activities, etc.)

Welcome Weekend Schedule 2023
First-Year Move-in (Founders, Marycrest, Stuart): 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Sign up for an arrival time slot on the Housing Portal.
Honors Welcome (RecPlex, Main Gym): 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
- Audience: Honors FY and Transfer Students
Welcome Weekend Check-in (Central Mall Tent): 3:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
- First-year students are required to check-in at the tent to receive their name badge, a Welcome Weekend schedule, and their team assignment.
Residential Floor Meetings (First-Year Halls): 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
- Required for Resident FY Students
Commuter Meeting (Kennedy Union, Torch Lounge): 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
- Required for Commuter FY Students.
Parent Meeting with Dean of Students & Public Safety (RecPlex, Main Gym): 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
- We invite parents and families to hear from the Dean of Students and Public Safety.
Frolic on the Field (Central Mall): 9 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
- A fun, social event for first-year students.

- Audience: First-year (FY) students and parents/families. Required for students.
Resource Fair (UD Arena): 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Audience: FY and Transfer Students and Parents
College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dean's Address (UD Arena): 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
- Audience: FY College of Arts and Sciences Students and Parents. Required for students.
School of Education and Health Sciences (SEHS) Dean's Address (Kennedy Union, Ballroom): 1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.
- Audience: FY School of Education and Health Sciences Students and Parents. Required for students.
School of Business Administration (SBA) Dean's Address (RecPlex, Main Gym): 1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.
- Audience: FY School of Business Administration Students and Parents. Required for students.
