What is Camp Blue?

Camp Blue is a high-energy and action packed leadership camp exclusively for University of Dayton's First-year Students.  The focus is on leadership development and camp is designed for students who want to get a jump start on their leadership potential.  The initial camp experience takes place August 11-16, 2019 however, Camp Blue 2019 is more than just a week.  The leadership development continues into the first semester and includes attendance at the Fall Leadership Conference and participation in one Service Saturday.  Whether it’s high or low ropes, learning how to be a “colorful” leader, team time with upperclassmen counselors, discovering something new and exciting about Dayton, or simply learning what it means to be a UD Flyer, there is something for everyone at Camp Blue.

When is Camp Blue?

Camp Blue starts on Sunday, August 11 and ends on Friday, August 16. There are additional experiences that take place throughout the fall semester including: the Fall Leadership conference, enrollment in the UleaD mini course, and participation in a Service Saturday during the Fall Semester.

Who can participate in Camp Blue?

All first-year students can participate in Camp Blue, this includes both residential and commuter students.

What if I want to participate in Transitions and/or Honors Welcome?

Students can attend Camp Blue as well as Transitions and/or Honors Welcome.

When does registration open and close for Camp Blue?

Registration opens at 1 p.m. EDT on July 11 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on July 14, 2019 or when all spots are filled. You can access the registration for Camp Blue through our website.

Is financial assistance available for Camp Blue 2019?

If you are Pell grant eligible, financial assistance may be available.

When is move-in for Camp Blue?

Camp Blue move-in begins promptly at 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 11.  Campers should pack their camp overnight bag separate from their residence hall move-in belongings (there will not be enough time to pack for camp after moving in).

Please Note:  Commuter students participating in camp should report to KU Ballroom at 11:30 a.m. 

What is the cancellation process and deadline for Camp Blue?

All cancellations must be in writing to the email account. They must be received by the posted cancellation deadline. No refunds will be accepted after the deadline for any reason. Also, no cancellations will be taken over the phone.

What is the Camp Blue supplemental meal plan?

The Camp fee includes 11 meals (meals may vary).  Students have the option of purchasing a supplemental meal plan in order to cover additional meals during the portion of camp that is on campus.  Supplemental meals plans must be added and paid for at the time of registration.

Meal Plan A: $30 is equivalent of one extra meal a day

Meal Plan B: $60 is equivalent of two extra meals a day

***Please Note the following about the Supplemental Camp Meal Plans:

  • All meals at UD Dining Facilities are a la carte pricing so the plans above are calculated based on the average cost on 1 or 2 extra meals 
  • Can only be used at the UD Dining Facilities that are open during the assigned meal time blocks 
  • Any unused portion of either meal plan rolls over to fall semester for use until $0 balance

What if my parents/family cannot return to campus the next weekend for Family Orientation?  

We understand that some parents/family may not be able to return for Family Orientation on August 17 and 18, 2019, so we have included a lunch, welcome and breakout session, and resource fair for camp parents/family on Sunday, August 11.
