Third-Year Requirements

Third-Year Requirements

In order to maintain the LIS Scholarship, participants must complete a leadership opportunity each semester through Student Leadership Programs.  This opportunity must be at least three hours in length, and meet the intended learning objectives for the semester.

In the first semester, students will explore:

  • Witnessing Leadership in Service
  • Social Responsibility & Social Justice
  • Self-reflection and continuous development

In the second semester, students will explore:

  • Practicing Leadership in Service
  • Social Responsibility & Social Justice
  • Receiving feedback and continuous improvement

Below is a description of how to complete the third-year LIS requirements.  Students will complete all three requirements each semester.  You can track your completion on 1850 by visiting your checklist.

Third-Year Requirements (Fall 2020)

Students will engage in intentional observation of leadership in action on at least two separate occasions.  This should occur within the UD context.

Observed leadership can occur through a student organization, student employment experience, classwork, faculty, or administration. 


The practice of leadership in inextricably linked to social justice.  Students will attend one workshop, advertised by Student Leadership Programs, on Social Responsibility and/or Social Justice.


Isidore Modules (Student Leadership Programs Isidore Site)

Students will complete a self-reflection that includes what they learned from observing leadership in action as well as an analysis of their current leadership abilities and plan for continued development of leadership skills.

Third-Year Requirements (Spring 2021)

Students will engage in the intentional practice of leadership in service on at least two separate occasions.  This should occur within the UD context.

Practiced leadership can occur through a student organization, student employment experience, service to the community, or group project in a course.  Remember, the practice of leadership does not require a title, and should be practiced in community.


The practice of leadership in inextricably linked to social justice.  Students will attend one workshop, advertised by Student Leadership Programs, on Social Responsibility and/or Social Justice.

Students will request feedback on their leadership using a leadership feedback conversation template.  Students are highly encouraged to discuss this feedback rather than only seeking written feedback. 

Students will then complete a self-reflection that includes what they learned from practicing leadership in service and the feedback received.
