Reports of Hazing

On July 6, 2021, Ohio Senate Bill 126 also known as Collin’s Law was signed into law and took effect on October 7, 2021. Collin's Law, Ohio's Anti Hazing Act, enacts a number of changes intended to end hazing and any cultural issues that allow hazing to persist.  In addition to increasing criminal penalties for hazing, Collin’s Law also requires each institution of higher education to post a report of all hazing violations on a publicly accessible website. Below you will find a list of all reported and adjudicated hazing incidents that occurred at the University of Dayton and/or involving a recognized student organization over the past 5 years.   

2023-2024

  • Date when subject was charged: December 6, 2023
  • General description of violation, any investigation and findings by institution: 
    The University received a report from a community member who reported new members were provided alcohol and blindfolded. An investigation occurred and the organization was found responsible for hazing, alcohol violations and non-compliance.
  • Date when matter was resolved: February 2, 2024
  • Penalties imposed on subject of the report: Organization suspension, forfeiture of privileges, loss of housing, and a national intervention plan

2022 - 2023

    The University received an anonymous report from a community member who reported seeing evidence that hazing was taking place.

  • General description of violation, any investigation and findings by institution: 
    A student staff member reported that new members of the Team were required to launder team uniforms. An investigation was conducted.
