Housing and Residence Life
Year-Round Housing
Year-round housing options are available for UD students who may need to remain on-campus throughout the year. Students with year round housing need may inquire with the Department of Housing and Residence Life to determine the option which may be the best fit for their specific needs.
Graduate Students
Recognizing the unique needs and schedules of many of our graduate students, University Place and Plumwood apartments are available on a year round basis. Standard contracts are for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) with the option for a summer contract. Break periods are included at no additional charge for residents continuing from term to term in the same location. If you have questions, please contact our office for additional information.
Undergraduate Students (First-Year, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors)
Undergraduate students requesting housing for the Winter Break period (or any other break for which housing may be closed) may submit requests via their MyHousing student housing portal. Undergraduate students involved in research, in-season athletic teams, participating in experiential learning programs, or working for University departments can receive an access code from their sponsoring program. Undergraduate international students can contact the Global and Intercultural Affairs office to receive an access code. Undergraduate students for whom campus housing is their primary residence/home or students for whom returning home is unsafe or not possible are encouraged to contact the Dean of Students office for an access code.
Students living in residence halls will be reassigned to temporary housing during the Winter Break period to ensure they can prepare meals if/when Dining Services may be unavailable. Students living in apartments or houses can remain in their regular assignment for the break period, in most situations. The University may temporarily reassign students living in apartments/houses for facility/maintenance reasons or to avoid potential student isolation if few students stay in a given location/area.
