The UD Group Fitness program offers a friendly and welcoming environment that encourages members to maintain and enhance lifelong fitness and healthy lifestyles here at UD and in the future. Our certified instructors teach safe, fun and challenging classes designed to increase strength, improve flexibility & balance, and challenge cardiovascular endurance to meet the needs of the UD Community.

Class Descriptions

BARRE • Flexibility; Strength
Barre workouts help to create a uniquely lean, firm, and sculpted body by combining isometric contractions, dance conditioning, yoga, and Pilates. This head-to-toe workout fuses cardio and barre-sculpting movements together in order to boost heart-rate, target specific areas, and create long, lean, toned muscles - all in 50 minutes! Light weights used and no dance experience is necessary.

BARRE BOOTCAMP • Flexibility; Strength
Are you wanting to add some cardio to your regular Barre class? Barre Bootcamp may be the class for you! Low impact cardio intervals will be paired with Barre-style strength training to increase your heart rate. Barre Bootcamp incorporates a mix of cardio, strength, and flexibility to help build strong muscles and a healthier heart!

BODY BLAST • Cardio; Strength
This total body workout burns fat and builds muscles using various methods of cardio and strength training. Be prepared for a high- intensity and fast- paced workout!

CARDIYOGA • Flexibility; Cardio
CardiYoga is an upbeat vinyasa flow yoga, with added strength and cardio power to traditional poses that will leave you sweating. This faster paced class is set to modern pop and hip hop music to get you moving. A perfect way to incorporate strength, cardio and flexibility!
Class Maximum: 30 participants

CORE GALORE • Strength
Core Galore focuses on strengthening your whole core - everything from your back and chest to your abs and hips. This quick but effective strength workout will leave you wanting more. Note: Our 50 minute Core Galore will include flexibility training as well.

HIP HOP • Cardio
A cardio dance party and an awesome workout in one! Follow along with your own groove and work up a sweat while jamming to popular hip hop and pop songs to feel the full body burn. No dance experience necessary.
Class Maximum: 30 participants

INNER PEACE YOGA • Flexibility
Ditch the coffee and start your day with Inner Peace Yoga! Focus on connecting your mind and body through a series of poses and meditations suitable for all levels. Achieve inner peace before starting your day to improve your productivity and reduce stress.
Class Maximum: 35 participants

JUMP right in and experience an energetic cardio challenge using jumpropes and increase coordination, too! All while incorporating classic kickboxing moves into the class! This is a class is fun and for all - those starting to get into working out and those who want an added challenge!
Class Maximum: 25 participants

P90X® LIVE • Cardio; Strength
P90X® Live is the ultimate total-body strength, cardio, and core class. It features powerful moves that motivate participants to challenge their limits while also including modifications for all fitness levels. Together, we can bust through fitness plateaus in this class!
Class Maximum: 30 participants

PILATES • Flexibility; Strength
New this spring! Pilates body weight exercises are designed to condition and tone your muscles, and help to promote flexibility and stability.
Class Maximum: 35 participants

SPINNING® & STRENGTH • Cardio; Strength
Spinning® provides a fun and challenging cardiovascular workout for a variety of fitness levels - you control your resistance and speed. Hills, sprints and endurance intervals are all part of this class with energizing music and motivational instruction. Transitioning on and off the bike throughout the class, Spinning® & Strength combines cycling with full body strength training intervals off the bike. It is like the best of both worlds!

TABATA • Cardio; Strength
Tabata consists of short bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by short recovery periods, focusing on building stamina and strength while targeting muscles of the entire body. Be prepared to work, sweat, and smile!

VINYASA YOGA • Flexibility
Work through a series of poses aimed at flexibility and strength, as well as mindfulness and breathing practices during our Vinyasa yoga practice. Learn to breathe with each posture, stay in the moment, and center mind and body. Namaste.

YOGA ROCKS • Flexibility; Strength
Combining the relaxation of yoga with the thrill of rock wall climbing! The class begins with yoga to stretch and strengthen the muscles used in rock wall climbing, followed by a rock wall climbing adventure for the second half of the class. Yoga mats and climbing gear are provided. Open to all levels!
Class Maximum: 20 participants

YOGA MIX • Flexibility
Mix your "om" up! Explore different styles of yoga with a new class theme each week. Class examples include partner yoga, kundalini yoga, yin yoga, and more!
Class Maximum: 35 participants

ZUMBA® • Cardio
Zumba® is an aerobic dance fitness party featuring sizzling Latin and world rhythms combined with catchy pop songs and easy-to-follow moves. Before you know it, you’ll love working out through dance with this combination of cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, flexibility, and fun!
Class Maximum: 30 participants

Free Saturday Rotation Classes

Each week from 10:30am-11:20am, Group Fitness will feature a different class for you to try for FREE! The following is the projected schedule for Spring 2018:

*No Group Fitness pass necessary to participate, though day pass may be needed if participant is not a Campus Recreation Member. Your Community's Class

What’s better than building community while you break a sweat?

Your group, your class! UD Group Fitness offers Community Classes which are private Group Fitness classes for your club or organization taught by one of our instructors. You can choose the type of class and request an instructor! Use it as a team bonding activity or to bring a group of students together.

Culturally Inclusive Women's Only Classes

In an effort to create an atmosphere that is focused on inclusivity and respect for all cultures and religious beliefs, UD Campus Recreation offers women's only classes as part of the Group Fitness Schedule.

The following Culturally Inclusive Women's Only (CIWO) classes are taught by female instructors and take place in Studio A on the Mezzanine Level of the RecPlex --a space made private with blinds that are drawn for the duration of the class:

Pass Options

Two group fitness passes are available each semester:

  • All Access Pass | $50
    Includes all classes, unlimited use
  • 10 Class Pass | $25
    Any 10 classes of your choice

*Passes are valid for one semester and are non-transferable and non-refundable.


  • UDCR Group Fitness classes are designed for all fitness levels. Our instructors will provide modifications to accommodate all. Please let your instructor know if you have any injuries, special needs, or questions prior to class beginning, such that modifications can be provided throughout.
  • Participants should arrive at least 5 minutes prior to start of class. Classes have limited space and participation is first-come, first-serve until the maximum capacity is reached.
  • You must present your pass and photo ID to the instructor to be granted entry. We encourage you to bring a towel and water bottle to each class.
  • Passes are valid for one semester and are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Becoming an Instructor

  • We require all of our instructor to be certified by a nationally recognized organization.
  • If you have questions regarding certifications, please email us at
  • This is a standard interview process where staff will meet with potential instructors, ask some questions and get to you!
  • The fun part! Aspiring instructors will schedule an audition with current staff and instructors and teach their desired class.
  • The staff and instructor will evaluate you and feedback will be provided.
  • After the audition, you may be asked to work on specific skills to bring you up to our standards, or you may be ready to start teaching. Your preparation determines your success!
