Group Fitness

A Community of Fitness

The Group Fitness program offers a friendly and welcoming environment that encourages members to maintain and enhance lifelong fitness and healthy lifestyles here at UD and in the future. Our certified instructors teach safe, fun and challenging classes designed to increase strength, improve flexibility & balance, and challenge cardiovascular endurance to meet the needs of the UD Community.

The Spring 2021 Group Fitness schedule is here! Reservations are required and can be made at All classes are $3.

Classes this semester will be limited in size to allow for physical distancing. Classes will take place in Studio A and the North Gym Court 4 beginning February 1st.

Mats will not be provided. Please bring your own yoga mat or beach towel to class for floor/ground work.

  • All Group Fitness classes are $3 and may be purchased when a reservation is made at activeflyers.udayton.eduNO REFUNDS will be administered unless class is cancelled by UDCR or the University.
  • Participants should arrive at least 5 minutes prior to start of class. You must present your University of Dayton ID or Campus Recreation membership card to the instructor to be granted entry.
  • We encourage you to bring a water bottle and a towel and/or yoga mat to each class, as mats will not be provided.

BANDS & CORE (Focus: Strength)
Bands & Core will utilize resistance bands to incorporate multifunctional movement to increase strength and flexibility. We will utilize bands, body weight exercises, and core movements for a total body strength class. Bands & Core is the perfect addition to your fitness regime! 

BARRE (Focus: Flexibility, Strength)
Barre workouts help to create a uniquely lean, firm, and sculpted body by combining isometric contractions, dance conditioning, yoga, and Pilates. This head-to-toe workout fuses cardio and barre- sculpting movements together in order to boost heart-rate, target specific areas, and create long, lean, toned muscles - all in 50 minutes! Light weights used and no dance experience is necessary.  

Jab, cross, uppercut, and kick your way to a healthier you in a class that really packs a punch! No boxing experience necessary. 

CORE GALORE (Focus: Strength)
Core Galore focuses on strengthening your whole core - everything from your back and chest to your abs and hips. This quick but effective strength workout will leave you wanting more. Note: This class is 30 minutes.

FAITH & FITNESS (Focus: Cardio, Strength)
UD Campus Recreation is excited to partner with UD Faith & Fitness this spring. Faith & Fitness brings people of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels together to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually! Faith & Fitness strives to not only provide fun and uplifting workouts, but also to walk with others to seek a deeper meaning and significance to fitness! Working out is a way to worship our Lord. 

HIIT (Cardio, Strength)
HIIT is a full-body workout, which includes an interval training sequence with high-intensity exercises! It builds cardiovascular fitness while improving muscular strength and endurance. You are challenged to push to your limits and walk out feeling strong! Note: This class is 30 minutes.

HIP HOP (Focus: Cardio)
Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of dancing! Join us for a fun workout to some of your favorite songs - no dance experience necessary. Leave with a sweat and a smile! 

PILATES (Focus: Flexibility, Strength)
Pilates body weight exercises are designed to condition and tone your muscles, and help to promote flexibility and stability! 

SPINNING® (Focus: Cardio)
Spinning® provides a fun and challenging cardiovascular workout for a variety of fitness levels - you control your resistance and speed. Hills, sprints and endurance intervals are all part of this class with energizing music and motivational instruction. Spinning® will enhance your speed, strength and stamina, improve your overall physical health and increase your caloric burn. Join us for an awesome, heart-pumping workout!  

SPIN® & CORE (Focus: Cardio, Strength)
The heart-pumping challenge and excitement of Spinning® mixed with a solid core workout all in one class! With Spinning you control your speed and resistance to improve strength and stamina to improve your overall physical health. This fusion class is the best of both cardio and strength training worlds! 

SWEAT! (Focus: Cardio, Strength)
This total body workout burns fat and builds muscles using various methods of cardio and strength training. Be prepared to SWEAT in this high-intensity and fast-paced workout! 

YOGA (Focus: Flexibility)
Work through a series of poses aimed at flexibility and strength, as well as mindfulness and breathing practices during our Vinyasa yoga practice. Learn to breathe with each posture, stay in the moment, and center mind and body. Namaste.


  • UDCR Group Fitness classes are designed for all fitness levels. Our instructors will provide modifications to accommodate all. Please let your instructor know if you have any injuries, special needs, or questions prior to class beginning, such that modifications can be provided throughout.

  • Inclement Weather Policy: Please call the RecPlex Welcome Desk at 937-229-2704 to find out if a class has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
  • When not in use for programming purposes, Studios A is unavailable for general recreation. Please visit Studio C during non-programming times for open studio space (reservation required).
