Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs) and Mentors

Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs) and Mentors

Thank you for your interest in becoming and EIR or Mentor!  UD entrepreneurs are strongly encouraged to collaborate with an official UD EIR or UD Mentor, and what follows is the process to become an official partner with UD in those capacities.

What is expected of UD EIRs and UD Mentors?

The only expectation that is that you are open to see information in a confidential environment about the teams of entrepreneurs going through the official UD Entrepreneurial Program.  You will see of list of teams and ideas, and it will be up to your discretion to engage further with teams.  NO TEAMS WILL CONTACT YOU WITHOUT YOU FIRST SELECTING TO BE CONTACTED.  The Office of Entrepreneurial and Technology Partnerships (OTEP) may contact you if a team is in your interest area or special skills, but you will make the ultimate decision if a team can contact you.

So the requirement is minimal, and you get a first look at all of the new entrepreneurial ideas that come through UD!

And you will be freely able to contact any the teams if you so desire.

What is the process for becoming an EIR or Mentor?

If interested, please fill out this form

Qualifications needed:

For EIRs you will need demonstrated experience in startup formation and guidance.

For mentors will need skills or experiences that would be valuable for entrepreneurial teams, and the ability to guide inexperienced entrepreneurs through basic questions.

Your application will be reviewed by UD and you will be notified quickly if you are selected.

If selected OTEP will contact you to further discuss your interests and address any questions you may have. From there, you will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement and you can begin reviewing documentation on UD entrepreneurial teams!

If you have any questions about this process, or would like to talk to someone at UD about the entrepreneurial program, please contact Mathew Willenbrink.
