Lyft Flyer Ride

Lyft Flyer Ride

The University of Dayton has partnered with Lyft to offer discounted ride rates to students via the Lyft Flyer Ride program. This service provides late-night rides to and from main campus, Curran Place, UD Arena, Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton Children's Hospital and Kettering Medical Center. The Lyft program is designed to reduce wait times and serve a greater number of students.

Each month 2,000 discounted rides will be available to students on a first-come, first-served basis. By the University contributing $6 per ride for those first 2,000 rides each month, the average cost to the student is expected to be $2 or less per ride. Students may book a standard or XL Lyft via the Lyft Flyer Ride app. Campus pick-up and drop-off locations are defined within Lyft as a predetermined, geo-fenced area based on the latest campus map.

The program is available seven days a week from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On August 22, eligible students received an email from Lyft with instructions for claiming their discounted rides.

At any time during the academic year, eligible students may use the QR code located below in related links to re-send themselves the invitation. If students prefer not to use the QR code to claim their Lyft Pass, they may enter FLYERRIDE in the Lyft Pass section of the app's 'Payment' tab.

  • Stay inside until your driver arrives, especially if you are alone.
  • Verify your ride by making sure the license plate number, driver information, and car make and model match what you see in the app.
  • Ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
  • Ride in the backseat whenever possible. Not only does it allow you to exit either side of the vehicle to avoid traffic, but it gives you and the driver some personal space.
  • Always wear a seatbelt.
  • Share your location and route with a friend or loved one from within the Lyft app so they can follow your ride in real time.
  • Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app.
  • Lyft has a critical response team that is always available. If you believe your safety is threatened, call 9-1-1- first, then report the problem to Lyft.
