The Department of Public Safety offers personalized training to the campus community. Our department employs sworn law enforcement officers whose training and certifications typically exceed the requirements set for other departments. Our officers are qualified to share their expertise and knowledge on a variety of topics. The department holds regular learning opportunities in Fitz Hall and can also be scheduled to provide in-person training in buildings on campus including residence halls and in the Student Neighborhood. Our emergency squad personnel also regularly schedule CPR training through the academic year. You can request specific types of training or more information about training in general by completing the Public Safety Training Request Form.

Fingerprint services are available at the Public Safety administrative offices (Fitz Hall 195) for any member of the University of Dayton Community. Fingerprint Services Information

Flyer Ride is a Safe Ride program operated by student staffers employed by Public Safety. We use clearly marked vehicles to provide free rides for faculty, staff, and students within the University area during the academic year. 

The service is available Sunday through Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Flyer Ride Program

Parking Services at the University of Dayton strives to provide excellent service through a variety of transportation and parking services, including management of campus parking facilities, online permit and citation programs, guest/special event parking accommodations, the Motorist Assistance Program, the shuttle to Governor's Place, and student medical escorts. Parking Services also offers an online services website where you may purchase a parking permit, pay or appeal a citation, and manage your parking account. Simply visit this link and log in with your University username and password.

The Department of Public Safety follows federal guidelines when setting parameters for communicating with the campus community in the event of an emergency or ongoing threat. To this end, the department has developed a three-tier communication structure and uses each tier in a way to best serve the campus community. 

The federal government defines when Emergency Notifications and Timely Warning Notifications (referred to at UD as "Safety Advisories) should be issued to the campus community. These two notification types occupy the first and second tier of our communication structure. The third tier, the Flyer Aware Message, can be used to share information about a situation that does not meet the criteria of an Emergency Notification or Safety Advisory, but could still impact personal safety or security.
