The Lesley E. Smith Memorial 5K

Lesley Smith was a devoted member of the University of Dayton Rescue Squad for 3 years.  She graduated from UD in May 2007 with dual degrees in Psychology and Spanish.  Lesley served as the Personnel Officer for a year, and graciously stepped up to the plate her last semester when the current Personnel Officer resigned.  She also worked hard through the promotion process to become a Crew Chief.  Lesley was a great leader and gave countless hours of her time to the Rescue Squad.  In addition to her selfless acts, Lesley was a great mentor for fellow squad members.  She was a very passionate, and charismatic person who always had a smile on her face.

Lesley passed away on January 30, 2008 due to complications from epilepsy.  She was pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Cincinnati.  Donations from each annual race are given to The Epilepsy Foundation, which is dedicated to the welfare of the almost 3 million people with epilepsy in the U.S.
