Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
Automated External Defibrillators
Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) provide a potentially lifesaving electrical shock to individuals experiencing cardiac arrest. Statistics indicate that a significant percentage of lives can be saved by using an AED and administering CPR within the first few minutes following cardiac arrest.
Training and certification for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED use is available to students, faculty, and staff through the Student Volunteer Rescue Squad. Please visit the Student Volunteer Rescue Squad page for information on CPR and AED training.
The University of Dayton has installed AEDs in the main lobby of most buildings. For AED service, contact the Public Safety dispatcher.
