Emergency Medical Services
The Department of Public Safety provides around the clock pre-hospital emergency medical services to the University of Dayton community.
- All police officers below the rank of Major are certified as Emergency Medical Technician, Basic (EMT-B) or Emergency Medical Technician, First Responder (EMT-FR). Each police vehicle carries first-aid supplies and an automated external defibrillator (AED).
- The Student Volunteer Rescue Squad, founded in 1992, is comprised of approximately 50 full-time undergraduate students who volunteer their time serving the campus community as nationally registered and state certified Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.
