Public Safety Advocates
Public Safety Advocate Program
21st century policing focuses on police departments being active members of the communities that they serve. Community-oriented policing efforts at the University of Dayton receive tremendous assistance from the efforts of a group of students who serve the department as sworn volunteers.
The students who become Public Safety Advocates come from diverse backgrounds and courses of study, but share a desire and willingness to serve their community in this unique way. The mission for the Public Safety Advocate Program is to act as a liaison between students and police at the University of Dayton. Public Safety Advocates assist the department in a multitude of ways including hands-on planning and execution of student-oriented events and education.
