Search for the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs
The search for the next provost and executive vice president of academic affairs for the University of Dayton is underway after current Provost Paul Benson announced his retirement effective July 1, 2023.
In announcing the Provost Search Advisory Committee membership, President Eric Spina indicated that the search will be open to internal and external candidates and the process will provide faculty, staff and students opportunities to engage in meaningful ways.

Search Advisory Committee
The Provost Search Advisory Committee appointed by Spina is diverse and broadly representative, making it well-positioned to work closely with him and the Isaacson, Miller search consultant to develop and assess the candidate pool.

Jana Bennett is a professor and chair of the Department of Religious Studies whose expertise is in moral theology. Dr. Bennett has been on the faculty of the University of Dayton for 14 years and also directs the disability studies minor.
Michelle Mathile is a UD graduate and parent of two UD graduates as well as a current student; as a member of the Board of Trustees she serves on the Executive Committee and chairs the Committee on Trustees. Ms. Mathile serves as Vice Chair of the Board for The Glen at St. Joseph and is a member of both the Montgomery County Two-Generation Advisory Committee, and the East End Community Services Community Action Council.
