Message about personal travel and mitigating spread of COVID-19
July 16, 2020
The University of Dayton plans a return to teaching, research and experiential learning on campus this fall with measures in place to promote safety and lessen the risk of COVID-19 spread.
The University is taking recommended steps to mitigate the risk of spread to the extent possible, and the degree of success will depend on a mutual commitment and actions from everyone in the UD community, on and off campus. Our Catholic, Marianist mission and identity calls us to exercise our commitment to community now more than ever.
Each of us has the opportunity to make decisions in our personal lives and spaces to support this effort. We are asking people to reduce the risk of spread by following these safe practices both on and off campus.
- Daily symptom self-assessment
- Physical distancing - Maintain 6 feet distance from others
- Stay out of crowded places and avoid large groups
- Use face coverings
- Practice frequent hand hygiene
- Follow respiratory etiquette
- Clean and disinfect
- Respect posted occupancy limits, signage and markings wherever you are
- Abide by established rules for foot traffic
- Limit non-essential travel
All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to refrain from high-risk personal travel. The CDC has helpful advice:
- to safely meet basic household needs within your local community
- to safely travel away from your local community
- when returning from international travel
Please consult these resources as you consider your personal decisions. If you have concerns about personal activities that may put others on campus at risk, please discuss these with your supervisor or contact Human Resources at hr@udayton.edu. Students and parents with questions can email pathforward@udayton.edu.
Thank you in advance for sharing the responsibility to keep our community safe.
