Supplemental Instruction Review Sessions

What to Expect

  • SI Review Sessions are peer facilitated by an SI Leader. SI Leaders are not instructors and are not expected to know everything. They have been recommended by professors and have been successful students in the course they are supporting.
  • SI Review Sessions are offered in select courses to help you solidify the concepts your are being asked to learn in class by providing opportunities to work with the material in a small group setting.
  • SI Leaders attend the class lectures of the course they are supporting and hold two regularly scheduled review sessions outside of class each week. SI Review Sessions are collaborative, active, and engaging!
  • SI Review Sessions tend to be most effective when used proactively and regularly.
  • SI Review Sessions take place in different locations across campus. These spaces are warm, inviting, and accessible for all learners.
  • SI Review Sessions are not a replacement for your class or your professor. Your SI Leader may refer you back to your instructor for clarification.

Make the Most Out of Supplemental Instruction

  • Come to SI Review Sessions prepared.  Read the assigned sections and review the content in advance, complete any homework questions that you understand, mark the concepts or problems you do not understand and write down any questions prior to your SI Review Session.
  • It is important that you bring your class notes, book, syllabus, and other materials to the session. Having the appropriate material will help as you interact with your peers and your SI leader in the session.
