FIRST graduate a Fullbright Finalist

Amaria Jones, a 2023 graduate of the University of Dayton and an alumnus of the FIRST program, has announced she is a finalist for a Fulbright Scholarship this year. Jones graduated with a BA in English with minors in Human Rights Studies and Race & Social Justice. After graduation, Jones began working at the Cornerstone Schools of Washington D.C.  While at UD, Jones made great connections with her faculty members who in turn introduced her to many different experiences and opportunities. One such opportunity was her department chair connecting her with the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Foundation where Jones secured an internship. In addition, Jones also worked as an assistant editor for Professor Emeritus Herbert Woodward Martin, a noted African-American scholar and expert on Paul Laurence Dunbar. Jones recently enrolled in a Master’s program of Interdisciplinary Studies in experimental humanities and social management at New York University.
