UD among best in nation for entrepreneurship
The University of Dayton has one of the top 50 entrepreneurship programs in the country, according to the latest rankings from The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine.
UD also was ranked in the top 10 for best in the Midwest and best for schools with fewer than 10,000 undergraduates. It’s the 19th consecutive year UD has been recognized for outstanding faculty, experiential learning, robust mentoring and networking support for students.
“UD students have the chance to launch their own microbusinesses, lead one of the nation’s largest student-run corporations, collaborate with entrepreneurs, direct microloans, act as angel investors, and more—all while benefiting from close mentorship with faculty,” said Vincent Lewis, UD’s associate vice president of entrepreneurial initiatives.
Students connect with local businesses at The Hub Powered by PNC Bank, one of the largest university-anchored innovation spaces in the country, as well as through the Greater West Dayton Incubator, which supports underrepresented entrepreneurs.
They can compete in UD’s Flyer Pitch new venture competition, among the largest contests of its kind at the collegiate level with more than $150,000 in prizes; gain experience through Flyer Enterprises with annual revenues of $2.5 million and over 200 employees; manage the $1 million Flyer Angels fund; and work with small businesses and nonprofits on microloans and projects through Flyer Consulting.
