Trevor Collier named School of Business Administration dean

The University of Dayton has named Trevor Collier, an economics professor at the University since 2007, dean of the School of Business Administration.

Collier’s appointment begins today. He has served as interim dean since January.

“Trevor has done outstanding work as interim dean in a challenging higher education environment,” said Paul Benson, provost and executive vice president of academic affairs. “He brings to the deanship strong relational skills, excellent academic acumen and a deep commitment to the mission and values of the University. I am excited by the vision that he will bring in a time of substantial opportunity for business education, research and collaboration.”

Collier has taught and served in leadership roles, including as chair of the department of economics and finance, as a member of the Flyer Enterprises board of directors, Greater West Dayton Incubator resource team, Arcade Innovation Hub board of directors and other groups. He helped lead development of the University’s master of finance program and created the UD2NYC experiential and professional development program for economics and finance upperclassmen to network with professionals in New York City. He is a widely published scholar in respected peer-reviewed economics journals.

“Trevor has demonstrated his passion as well as his skills as a collaborative leader who will support faculty teaching and research, expand student experiential learning opportunities, foster key relationships with corporate and community partners, and advance the School’s focus on diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Eric F. Spina, University president. “His leadership will ensure the School is able to meet the challenges of and capitalize on opportunities presented by today’s ever-evolving global business environment, including the deep engagement of alumni and friends.”

As dean, Collier oversees more than 100 full-time faculty and staff, as well as 2,600 students across eight undergraduate majors, on-ground and online master of business administration programs, and three specialized master’s programs in accountancy, finance and business analytics. The School of Business Administration also has a top-ranked entrepreneurship center at one of the largest university-anchored innovation centers nationwide, the largest student-managed investment fund in the country, one of the largest new venture competitions at the collegiate level, the fourth largest student-run business in the country in Flyer Enterprises, and opportunities for students to start their own microbusiness, consult on micro-loans for underrepresented entrepreneurs and act as angel investors with a seven-figure private equity fund.

“I have told everyone I do not want to be a dean just anywhere, but I am extremely excited to be the dean of the School of Business Administration at the University of Dayton,” Collier said. “Our school has many strengths. I look forward to leveraging them, enhancing our visibility, supporting our students, faculty and staff, enhancing our efforts to become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive, and continuing our work to contribute to the common good.”
