Interim business school dean named

Trevor Collier, associate professor of economics, has been appointed interim dean for the University of Dayton School of Business Administration.

His appointment begins Jan. 16 and may extend until July 2022, depending on the timing of the selection of the next dean following a competitive national search. Former Dean John D. Mittelstaedt died Dec. 8 after a long battle with cancer.

Collier, who began on faculty in 2017, has been active in the business school as economics department chair from 2013 to 2017 and with university-wide initiatives, including co-chairing the university revenue opportunity working group and as a member of the enterprise online learning task force.

He regularly teaches principles of microeconomics and public finance to undergraduates and managerial economics in the MBA program. His research interests span most areas in applied microeconomics, most recently examining questions in sports and environmental economics.

“He will be an effective and highly collaborative leader for the SBA during the coming year,” said Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs Paul Benson.
