Is This Justice? Stories of Death Row
Listen to Powerful Stories of Capital Punishment
The flaws of the U.S. system of capital punishment are numerous. It’s deeply rooted in racial injustice, it disproportionately affects poor and vulnerable populations, risks innocent lives, and perpetuates cycles of harm and violence.
Is this justice?
Nearly 200 innocent people have been exonerated from death row in the U.S. since 1976, not to mention the untold number of people who were unjustly executed. Many murder victims’ family members are outspoken about the fact that the death penalty falls short in providing healing or closure in the wake of grave tragedy.
This upcoming panel will feature a death row exoneree, the mother of a murder victim, and a Catholic priest and lawyer who helped exonerate his friend. Each will share their personal experience with the death penalty, and help you explore how you can impact death penalty policy in Ohio.
