Every November, a team of students organizes a series of events to create awareness about the issues of hunger and homelessness that plague our nation and our world. If you are interested in being a part of this year's planning team, please contact Lindsay Horn at

Thanksgiving Food Drive "Takover Days" Fundraisers:

Oct. 7th from 6 pm to 8 pm - Artstreet Cafe Takeover

Oxfam Hunger Banquet
Location: VWK Main
November 6, 2019, 6:00-7:30pm

This Hunger Banquet is to raise awareness educate students on populations experiencing homelessness. This event will consist of a dinner and discussion on world hunger. Discussion will largely surround the topic of world poverty as well as other facets of world hunger in order to better understand the root causes and what we, as students, can do about it. Food Justice in Dayton: A Dinner Dialogue

Wednesday, November 13th, 5:30 - 7:15 pm

You are invited to join fellow UD Flyers, staff and faculty and surrounding Dayton community members to dive into the topic of food insecurity and environmental justice. A prevalent issue in Dayton, food insecurity is when a person does not have access to affordable, nutritious foods. Come learn about the intersection between food insecurity and environmental justice, and discover what role you play in helping alleviate this issue. Register Now


Thanksgiving Food Drive Van Collections
Location: S1 (by Fitz Hall), S4 (between Rec and Stuart field), 1700 South Patterson River Campus (by North lot)
November 5th & 6th @ 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm and 4 pm - 5:30 pm
This food drive is presented by the Center for Social Concern. Students and Faculty may donate non-perishable foods that will go in a basket and given to those families in our community who are in need. Donations can be made through Flex or Flyer Express (Oct. 28th – Nov. 1st), cash can be dropped off in Liberty Hall RM 107 and checks can be made payable as well.

Service Saturday (Food Baskets)
Location: Meet in Liberty Hall
November 9th @ 8:30 am - 2 pm
Join us for a morning or afternoon of service, sorting and organizing donations for the Thanksgiving Food Drive. This service will be on campus, but will benefit families throughout the Dayton region.
