Campus Ministry support for those impacted by COVID19

Campus Ministry is providing a number of support opportunities for faculty and staff who are impacted in any way by COVID19, including those who will be furloughed or layed off and all who want to gather for prayer with other members of the university community during this time of challenge and crises:

  • Prayer and Support group:  This three session virtual group will be facilitated by two campus ministers, Fr. Kip Stander, SM and Crystal Sullivan.  Group will meet, Thursdays at 10am on May 7, 14, and 21. Participants will have opportunity to reflect on their experience in a small group setting with other faculty and staff.  If you are interested in participating or you have questions, please contact Kip Stander, SM, cstander1@udayton.edu.   A Zoom link for the sessions will be sent to you.
  • Individual Pastoral Care:  If you seek individual support, please contact one of the ministry staff persons listed below to arrange a time to connect that is convenient for you.

    Kelly Adamson, kadamson1@udayton.edu
    Nick Cardilino, ncardilino1@udayton.edu

Easter Greetings from Campus Ministry

Easter Blessings and greetings of the season for all from the Campus Ministry team. Even though things are not what they used to be. We are still here. Rooted in the promise of new life – present with you however you are experiencing this time. Find opportunities to connect to faith here, especially now – as the world is changing around us. Let us all hold one another in prayer and solidarity during these times of challenge and grace. We miss you greatly and look forward to the day when we can all return to our beloved campus. May you be blessed.

Thoughts on St. Oscar Romero and the Pandemic

“We must overturn so many idols,” Romero says, “the idol of self first of all, so that we can be humble, and only from our humility can we learn to be redeemers, can learn to work together in the way the world really needs.”

Pope Francis’ Prayer to Mary During Coronavirus Pandemic

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

I need to do a better job accepting the church as a grey area instead of seeing it as inherently flawed. It’s something that I need to actively work to fix, not abandon.
