The afternoon of Oct. 12, UD’s campus community paused to gather around the Peace Pole near the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception to pray for peace for the Israeli and Palestinian people, and for all those around the world who have been impacted by war. Community members gathered to acknowledge the many innocent people hurting due to the latest war between Israel and Hamas, including victims’ families, loved ones and communities. Participants placed flags in the soil around the Peace Pole as a symbol of hope.

A message to the University community said, “We condemn violence, terrorism, hate and prejudice in all forms, and encourage all members of our campus community to pray for peace to prevail. We strive to be a community of people who are able to honor and see one another, united in our common humanity, recognizing the impact of this conflict on individuals and communities.”
