Those who were here for the 2023 Reunion Weekend celebration on June 9, 10 and 11 may have noticed a smoky smell or slight haze in the air. It’s still here. Canadian wildfires have been burning since March in Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. Today, Dayton received an air quality alert from the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency explaining wildfire smoke has left the air at a level which is not advisable for those with breathing sensitivities to be out in. Just after lunch this afternoon the air quality index was reported at 191 for Dayton, Ohio — well into the “unhealthy” range. Oh, be careful out there.
