Perpetual motion

The UD campus is alive with activity. That’s the way we like it. Some of the activity involves works in progress. There is concrete work happening in Humanities Plaza, and paver work in front of the Science Center. Even rain won’t stop some, as small orange utility vehicles zip along to the next job. No matter where you look, campus seems to be in perpetual motion.

But in the entrance of the Science Center, we find our Foucault Pendulum, a still device. While the pendulum does not physically move, it was created to demonstrate the rotation of the Earth … which we all know is in constant (perpetual) motion.
