Donors rally around Flyer Funder

Donors rally around Flyer Funder

Nicole L. Craw March 09, 2022

Since 2017, Flyer Funder, the official crowdfunding platform of UD, has gained donor support for 47 projects, raising nearly $200,000 from 2,088 donors. The online platform allows members of the campus community to propose a project for the University to add to Flyer Funder.

“Flyer Funder offers faculty, staff and students the opportunity to raise funds for innovative projects, service trips, events and other UD specific ventures,” said Emily Gamble Baldwin ’14, associate director of annual giving, student philanthropy and young alumni giving.

Fall 2021 Flyer Funder successes include:

  • Christmas on Campus. A UD tradition since 1964, the 2021 campaign raised $3,365 from 50 donors to provide each child with a gift and pair of gloves.

  • Flyer Consulting, the student-run organization that provides free business consulting solutions to nonprofits. Students raised $7,675 from 55 donors.

  • Franco Patino Memorial Fund, in memory of the senior who died last fall at a concert in Texas. Established by friends and family, it raised $21,655 from 309 donors to fund a scholarship.

“It’s an easy way to rally folks around a particular cause or project to help organizers reach their goals pretty quickly,” Baldwin said. The next batch of projects will be open to donors March 10 through UD’s One Day, One Dayton giving day, April 6.
