Transgender day of remembrance

Transgender day of remembrance

Larry Burgess November 16, 2021

This Friday at 5 p.m., the names of people murdered in the last year as a result of transphobia will be read aloud in Central Mall. These names are on small cards in flowerpots now set along the walkways. During the reading, candles will be placed nearby. It’s all to observe Transgender Day of Remembrance, Nov. 20, and to draw attention to the continued violence endured by transgender people. The event is sponsored by The Brook Center, Q*mmunity Leaders, Spectrum, MEC and FOLX. The event is being held in partnership with  Campus Ministry and Student Government Association.
