Larry served on the board from 2014, with membership in the finance, athletics, facilities, and mission and identity committees.

Daniel J. Curran, UD president from 2002-16, praised Harris’ contributions to the board of trustees, particularly his acumen in construction law as the University expanded its physical footprint.

“Larry brought a lot of assets to the board being a lawyer and a UD graduate,” Curran said. “He brought legal expertise I thought would assist us since he had a strong background in construction arbitration. As we went through a period of growth and faced many challenges in how we approached our development, he was good counsel for me and for others. He was just a solid individual and so pleasant to be around. He was a great addition to the board.”

Larry was born July 18, 1950, in Tifton, Georgia. As a UD student, Larry was one of the founding members of Black Action Through Unity and was involved in Rho Rho Rho Fraternity, ROTC and the football team. He remained a sports fan throughout his life and was a strong supporter of UD basketball.
