My Old House: 215 K Street

In the Sigma Alpha Iota house, nestled behind Holy Angels Church, live six women—a small number, but all dedicated to the women’s music fraternity.  The house is medium-sized, bluish-grey, has two floors and a storm cellar. There are four single rooms on the second floor and one double on the first. It is an old house, a detail you can’t see from the outside, but the sisters are reminded of this each time the pipes screech and doors open and close on their own. Could it be a haunted house? Maybe, but the residents don’t seem to mind. Their cozy UD home is covered in Sigma Alpha Iota memorabilia, full of musical instruments, and proudly displays composites which include faces of the mothers and female relatives of the women living there now.
