Student Research in a Fruit Fly Lab

Lilia Sciarretti March 09, 2018

Abigail Groszkiewicz, third year Pre-medical student, with a minor in Medical Humanities, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seen analyzing fruit flies today underneath a microscope in her lab located in the Science Center. The point of working with these flies is to better understand gene regulation. "When you have a good understanding of genes in flies, you should be able to apply it to humans," Groszkiewicz said. Groszkiewicz has been working with fruit flies since August 2016 and continues to do so until graduation in December 2018.
